Good 'Ol Sunday

The CES (Community Extension Services), the org I'm in at school, attended the city government's medical mission today at the Jaro covered gym. It was a one-day affair hosted and sponsored by Mercury Drug Store. There were around 2,000 and more participants from all over the city who availed this one-day free consultation and medicines for all.

Our organization was asked by the city representative to take the vital signs of those said participants and so it was heck tiring. Imagine 37 of us CES volunteers taking temperature, blood pressure, and chief complaints to the that huge number of people, (hehe!) But it was a success! Nothing stopped us from doing the task and succeeding in it. Great job guys! We had free snacks and free lunch sponsored by Jollibee. The event ended at 3pm.

THE CES Volunteers w/ our adviser

I realized that being a nursing student and as well as a volunteer for the commmunity is a big responsibility but nevertheless at the end of the day all the hardwork has paid off because who can see that all those people had been catered with their needs especially most of them are not well-endowed. This is one the reasons why I joined CES. It's not ony because I got no better stuffs to do, but it's because I want to help other people, share my knowledge and skills to others who are in need. It's true that when I graduate I'd go back to the U.S. and work there for good, but these activities and experiences like this are worth carrying back to my heart. At least, I can also stay that although most of the time my life here in PI was boring, but when those times that I'm not bored, I help other people who are less fortunate than me.
