My first Christmas and New Year away from my family, whew! So this is how it feels being independent and on your own. It sucks. But I'm pretty sure I'll get a hang of things in the future when there will be more holidays away from home. Christmas wasn't that bad, I spent it with my aunt and uncle in our rest house in the province and my aunt cooked alot of food, there were a few guests, mostly relatives and a few people who comes just to ask for "pamaskwa" (Christmas gifts), monetary most especially. It's always like that when we go home in the province, the townspeople almost always comes by, share their "Maalaala Mo Kaya" stories and ends up asking money from us depending on how sad their story is. We are nowhere near politics and I know they are supposed to be asking those political people for monetary things but then I grew up in this environment, especially when my dad is present in the province, talo nya pa ang isang politiko! Our house in the province was always flooded with people so early in the morning, and its funny how I love seeing my family entertaining these people whom we hardly knew and yet they talk like they've knew each other from way back.
Gosh, I miss my times growing up. Danggg... am I that old? hahaha! Anyway, for New Year's Eve, we are just going to sleep it off, celebrate it in our dreams I guess, I might still be awake reading a book or something but I told manang ( my house helper), to just cook food tomorrow for lunch to celebrate New Year's Day. Anyway its only going to be me, her and my uncle here in our city home. I'll be video chatting my family in the morning because we are ahead 1 day here than in California. Still I'll be celebrating with their countdown, thanks to advanced technology!
By the way, I would like to thank all those who invited me to dine with them on New Year's. Thanks guys! But you know how tough it is to drive with all the fireworks going on in the streets. Thanks so much, I really appreciate it. (especially to Louren Chua and Isoevhel Faye Bernaldez and their families!) Don't worry, even if I'm home alone this New year, it will not stop the fever it will bring as 2010 rocks my world at it's best!
Stay safe everyone, and God bless us all this New Year's Day!
